Lac-a-Paul Uranium REE Prospect, St. Simeon Quebec – Option for $50,000 cash or cash/shares + 1% NSR

The Lac-aux-Foins uranium/REE property is comprised of 15 claims totalling 864.42 Ha (2136.06 Ac) and is located in Callières Township, 180 km north of Quebec City.

Anomalous levels of radioactivity was detected in the St. Siméon area in 1903 and explored by various companies between 1949 and 1969 then between 1977 and 1980, and again between 2005 and 2007.

The current property was staked to encompass a scintillation-counter defined  uranium anomaly approx. 1.5 km x 400 metres near the Village of St. Simeon, Quebec.

Initially, a near-surface outcropping of uranium was located near the shore of the St. Lawrence River, some 8 km. east of the anomaly. Follow up work by Laramide Resources performed by Caracle Creek International Consulting identified several anomalies within the former St. Simeon property, listing the Lac-a-Paul anomaly first among prominent targets for follow up. Jetcom Inc. also commissioned an NI 43-101 report on the property in 2008, authored by Michel Boily, PhD, P. Geol.

From Laramide’s 2007 report:

“Anomalous levels of radioactivity was detected in the St. Siméon area in 1903 and explored by various companies between 1949 and 1969 and between 1977 and 1980.

A bulk sample, analysed metallurgically by the Quebec Ministry of Mines in 1950, showed that a marketable concentrate of 10% U3O8 could be produced. Several airborne geophysical surveys delineated areas of anomalous radiation, and Geiger counter and magnetometer surveys found radioactive pegmatites and showings of radioactive minerals, dominantly uraninite. A geochemical survey by Soquem delineated geochemical anomalies with high U concentrations, but none of the showings were ever mined.

The St. Siméon Property is favourably located for mine development. It is located on a provincial highway and on the shore of the St. Lawrence River. A major electric power line crosses the Property.

The St. Siméon Uranium Property is located in the Grenville Province of the Canadian Shield. The dominant rocks on the Property are pink gneiss, augen gneiss, biotite mica schist, amphibolite, and pegmatite. The metamorphic rocks are characterized by abundant, small (decimetre-long), irregular masses of leucrocratic material consisting dominantly of quartz and feldspar with minor mica.

The mineralization is reported to be spatially associated with pegmatitic rocks. The dominant ore mineral is uraninite (UO2) was reported to occur in the pegmatites. LeBlanc (1953) also reported the occurrence of disseminate uraninite in gneiss. Because of the apparent relationship between pegmatites and high radioactivity implied by the historical work, the ore deposit model used for exploration in the St. Siméon area is similar to the Bancroft, Ontario, model. At Bancroft, uraninite and uranothorite [(Th,U)Si4] are hosted by irregular masses of pegmatites.

Exploration on the St. Siméon Uranium Property was initiated by Laramide in December 2005 and work completed to date includes:

• Data review, familiarization and compilation

• Airborne geophysical surveys, including a radiometric and magnetic survey

• Ground-truthing of geophysical anomalies

• Collection and multi-element analysis of grab samples

The radiometric survey delineated various area of elevated radioactivity. Ground-truthing of these areas with a hand-held scintillometer confirmed higher than background radioactivity locally. Assay data from some grab samples (up to 59 ppm U) showed slightly elevated concentrations compared to average greenschist-grade schist and quartzite (~5.55 ppm) or amphibolite-grade gneisses (~2.25 ppm).

Three areas of elevated radioactivity were delineated and these results suggest that some potential remains at the St. Siméon Uranium Property for the discovery of uranium mineralization.

It is the professional opinion of CCIC that the results of the current exploration and the favourable location of the Property are of sufficient merit to justify further exploration on the Property.”

From Jetcom’s 2008 43-101 Report

“In 1981, SOQUEM conducted a geological mapping program west of Lake Savard to search for the source of bottom lake sediment Zn, U and REE anomalies (Gagnier, 1981: GM 37031). Pink and white granitic pegmatites were unearthed; some 300 m in length and 10-15 m in width (0º/10º-45º). One biotite-quartz-sample produced a value of 2 wt% REE. A black radioactive mineral (uraninite?) was found.”

“The U, Th, REE (Rare Earth Elements), Y and Nb mineralization occurs within granitic

pegmatite dykes, pods and sills. The U-bearing minerals consist of uraninite (UO2) and zircon (ZrSiO4). Th and U are also included in thorite (ThSiO4) and uranothorite ((Th,U)SiO4). Monazite ((Y, HREE)PO4) and fergusonite ((REE,Y) NbO4 ) may be present and incorporate the REE (especially the heavy REE), Y and Nb.”

Since there was no discernable ground anomaly at the original St. Simeon showing, and since development potential around the showing is considered at this time to be low, given its close proximity to the St. Lawrence River and protected area, it is further emphasized that the recommended programs at the Lac-a-Paul anomaly be carried out by qualified operators.
